Meet the Healthwatch Wiltshire staff team – (L-R) Stacey, Lucie, Julie and Mary.
Day to day management of the whole organisation and the staff is in the hands of the Chief Executive, Emma Cooper.
Chief ExecutiveMy role is to manage the running of Evolving Communities CIC in line with its agreed plans (the ‘strategy’) and the statutory regulations for a local Healthwatch service. I report directly to the Chair and the Evolving Communities Board of Directors. One of my main responsibilities is to work with the Board to develop our strategic plans which includes taking into account what local people have said is important. When the plans are agreed (by the Board) I then get on and work with the staff and volunteer team to deliver them. This includes managing all our resources (including our funding) and making any necessary decisions.
Healthwatch Wiltshire ManagerMy role is to manage Healthwatch Wiltshire’s Volunteer and Engagement Team. This team delivers engagement strategies that encourage involvement and participation in the monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of health and social care services by talking to and listening to peoples’ experiences of using these services. The role also has responsibility for the volunteering programme which ensures that a wide range of people are able to be meaningfully involved in various Healthwatch activities including; Enter and View, special projects, and general community networking.
Volunteer OfficerIt is my role to oversee, coordinate and manage all volunteers within Healthwatch Wiltshire. This involves assessing and meeting Healthwatch Wiltshire’s needs through the recruitment, support and supervision of volunteers. The role also includes identifying and leading on new projects which reach into local communities, particularly focussing on children and young people.
Company SecretaryMy work combines two roles – Company Secretary of Evolving Communities CIC and Senior Volunteer & Engagement officer. The Company Secretary work involves supporting the five directors and ensuring that the company complies with its statutory reporting obligations. Volunteer & Engagement work is a good balance to this – getting out and about in the community and talking to people about their experiences of health and social care in Wiltshire.
Engagement OfficerWorking with our volunteers, it’s my job to get out and about and talk to local people about their experience of using health and social care services in Wiltshire. I then collate what people have told us and make sure that the key messages reach commissioners and providers of services – our aim is to make sure that local people’s views influence how services are managed and planned. At present, one of my main focus areas is dementia, there are about 6,500 people living with dementia in Wiltshire and we are working to ensure that the views of people affected by dementia are heard and can make a difference for the future.
Information Research and Website Content OfficerMy role as Information Research and Website Content Officer involves working on the Your Care Your Support Wiltshire website (YCYSW), Wiltshire Council’s Adult Social Care internet information and advice provision. Website content is delivered from several channels: 1) via web pages created using HTML structured menu tiles to access them; 2) via a service directory using a search tool that you can refine using categories and location; 3) via syndication from other sites like NHS choices. I research, curate and create relevant web pages and service directory entries, working with the commissioners and page owners at Wiltshire Council, and the wider team. I also work with stakeholders to promote and evaluate the accessibility, usefulness and appeal of the website.
I am the Data Administrator for Healthwatch Wiltshire. I help manage the CRM system where we store our electronic records, and the information on the Your Care Your Support Wiltshire website, including the layout/menus design and the service directory content. I also assist with other IT related areas when required, such as the Healthwatch Wiltshire website, and also creating/editing images or infographics for media publishing.
The work of Healthwatch Wiltshire is supported by its parent company Evolving Communities.
Head of Research and Insight
I manage, develop and deliver the Research and Insight function for Evolving Communities. We want to make sure that our work has an impact and that the voices of the people of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire are heard and listened to by those who buy and provide health and care services. Therefore, I work with my research and Insight team to provide support and advice on the best ways to collect feedback from local people. This includes looking at which methods such as interviews, focus groups, surveys, would best suit the groups from which we wish to gather feedback. I also lead on data governance and data protection to make sure that the information we collect from local people is kept safe and is used only for the purpose for which it is collected. My role also involves liaising and developing relationships with clients across the health and care sector in our footprint area, and other interested stakeholders, to explore, develop and deliver research opportunities for the organisation.
Research and Insight Officer
My job is to support our information gathering role, advising on methods of data collection and putting together interview questions and surveys. I also analyse the data that is collected. I look after the Healthwatch Wiltshire Issues Database, where we store and analyse the information that we gather, and report on trends. I also consider information from other sources, such as CQC inspections, national report and guidance, and use these to contextualise our findings. I work with the Head of Research and Insight to make sure that our data protection policy is up to date and run training for staff and volunteers.
Team Support Manager
My role with Evolving Communities is to support the staff teams, Chair and Board of Directors. This includes responsibility for maintaining financial, accounting and all personnel matters of the organisation. As Health and Safety representative for the office, I ensure that the office environment is safe and suitably equipped for staff and visitors. My role also covers administration support and general administration across the whole organisation.
I support the day-to-day marketing activity of Evolving Communities to raise the profile of Healthwatch Wiltshire and keep local people informed about health and social care. This involves a wide range of work from creation and publication of marketing materials (e.g. newsletters, reports and press releases) to promotion on our social media channels and maintaining the website.
Research and Insight Officer
I have two areas of work. My role as Research and Insight Officer is to contribute to the design of Evolving Communities research projects, analyse the information we collect from people, and present our findings in public reports to help improve the quality of services. I am also an Engagement Officer with Healthwatch Gloucestershire.
